Minister's Message

Dear Friends,

Merry Christmas! Advent through New Year’s is my favorite time of year. I love the Christmas Story, the Candlelight Service, and our Burning Bowl and White Stone ceremonies. I love our decorated church, decorating my home, and seeing the glitter and tinsel of decorated streets and shops. Christmas music fills my soul. I particularly love how most everyone rises into their highest and best selves during this season.

I see many smiles in people’s eyes or on unmasked faces. I see acts of kindness and generosity. I see the joyfulness received in sharing with those less fortunate. During this time of year, I feel and see hope, peace, love, and joy most everywhere I look. This is not to say that I am unaware of the strife in our world. But like the Norman Vincent Peale quote above, it seems as if a magic wand has been waved over the world and everything appears softer and more beautiful.

Heartfelt stories of Christmas memories and shared love fill the pages of this year’s Unity World Ministries Advent Booklet. If you haven’t looked through yours yet, take a moment and read a story or two. They are short and will fill you with tenderness and joy.

During the next three Sundays we will celebrate the attributes of peace, love, and joy. Elements of the Christmas Story will be woven into the Sunday talks. This year’s 12 Powers Candlelight Service will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 22. We hope this new time will allow those who don’t drive at night to attend this beautiful event. On December 24, Rev. Ken will facilitate the annual Christmas Eve service at 7:00pm. Anton and Laura will offer the music, and the service will be both joyful and meditative.

Tickets are going quickly for our Riverfront Playhouse buyout on December 16. The play “It’s a Wonderful Life” is a holiday favorite. The evening includes refreshments and an alcoholic and non-alcoholic bar. Please consider joining us and our friends from The Center for Spiritual Living.

As this 2021 holiday season unfolds, let your hearts be filled with love. Become your joyful inner child and feel a sense of excitement. Rev. Ken and I will practice this and also hold all of you in prayer for the most wonderful holidays ever.

Lovingly,
