“In the faces of men and women, I see God.”~ Walt Whitman
“You are not only a human being. You are the universe in a human body with a subconscious and conscious mind.” ~ Debasish Mridha
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”~ Genesis 1:27
How glorious to know that we are God in expression right here on earth! Each of the quotes above reinforce for us how precious we are—being seen as God, knowing that we are the universe in a human body, and that we were created in God’s own image. If we truly believed this, truly took it deeply into our being, how could we ever doubt our value to the world?
Through our individual uniqueness, we add value to the world in a way that no one else can. In his book Celebrate Yourself, Eric Butterworth says, “As the universe rushes and streams into you from all sides, it is a veritable cosmic celebration of ecstasy. It could be said, and should be, that you are the universe celebrating itself as you.” Imagine that. The universe celebrating itself as you! Let go of all your judgments and feel the joy in that statement. Embrace it and say to yourself several tines a day, “The universe celebrates itself as me!”
On Easter Sunday, we talked about rolling away the stones that keep us entombed from resurrecting into our highest self—the universe celebrating itself through each of us. During April, we took the stones of doubt, discouragement, and fear, and examined how they stifle all that we are. In May, we will celebrate the resurrected self. We will begin to embrace who we are as human beings. Only when we do this can we authentically walk the spiritual path.
In Luke 12:32, Jesus tells us that “…it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” When we loose the ties that bind us to old ways of thinking about ourselves, we begin to accept the kingdom. We begin to live with freedom and walk with a light step. We begin to celebrate ourselves.
That is how I want to live. To live with full aliveness. I want to celebrate all that I am and celebrate with you all that you are. As we gather together on Sunday mornings during May, we will take a journey leading us ever closer to the essence of our being. We will discover how to become a more involved participant in our own life. We will, as Butterworth tells us, “… become a conscious channel for the cosmic flow.”
Please join me this month as we celebrate, honor, the preciousness that we all are.
