“Truth: The Absolute; that which accords with God as divine principle; that which is, has been, and ever will be; that which eternally is.” ~ Charles Fillmore
“Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” ~ John 8:32
“Truth never pleads or compromises or wavers. It invites and awaits your acceptance.” ~ Vernon Howard
Ken and I just finished our current term o
f classes at Unity Urban School of Ministry. In one class we wererequired to diligently and thoughtfully examine our personal beliefs. All of us live from our beliefs, and for the most part, they are unconscious. They are the root of each thought we think, each word we utter, and each interaction we have. It requires digging deep to discover what runs our life. Once we become aware, we can either live the belief with consciousness or release it knowing that it no longer serves us.
The core beliefs we live by were often learned in childhood, and, like an onion, there are layers to be peeled away before we reach the core. Many times I have thought that I had uncovered and let go of an error belief only to have it crop up later in a subtler way. That is what growth is all about; ever refining our beliefs about God, ourselves, others, and how the world works. With each error belief that we become aware of and release, we grow more fully into our Christ self.
When we fully embrace Unity’s first princip
le, “There is only One Presence and One Power active in the universe and as my life, God the Good,” we manifest all the gloriousness that we were created to be. We know, without doubt, that we are made in the image and likeness of God. That is the truth that sets us free. There is only God and only good. Therefore, we, too, are good.
Through our Sunday services and our classes, we support each other in knowing and claiming the truth, the truth that sets us free. Please join us in this quest.
