Spiritual Leader's Message January 1, 2018

Dear Friends,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

As I chose the quotes for this month’s eNews, I discovered that I was drawn to those that spoke about writing—writing our own unique book of life. What an empowering thought! We each get to write our own story from beginning to end. Each day is a new page of our book, and we choose how our story unfolds. When I think of life in that way—each day a new beginning just like the new page of a book, I feel renewed enthusiasm for making sure I live from our Unity Principles. They are our foundation for creating a positive life filled with wonder and awe. While we never know what to expect day-to-day, we do know that we can face whatever comes with faith that greater good is always manifesting.

At UCIR, our holiday season was filled with beauty. Advent Sundays connected us to our growth of faith, peace, love, and joy, inherent inner powers. Our sacred Candlelight Service touched the hearts of all in attendance. Each of us chose one of the Twelve Powers that we wanted to bring more fully into our life during this next year and lit a candle to ground us in the claiming. Our Christmas Eve service, filled with the joyous sound of sacred and secular music, brought smiles to our faces. The traditional Burning Bowl ceremony gave us the opportunity to release and let go of all that no longer serves us so that there is space for the new that we desire to embrace. Ritual serves as a container for growth, and our season was filled with ritual ceremonies.

As we enter 2018, I look forward to connecting more deeply with each of you. Through our Sunday services and exciting and interesting programs we have planned for the year, we will have opportunities to learn more about each other and share how we each approach life in a unique way.

I wish each of you a very happy New Year. I am excited to write my new individual story and to have us create together our new congregational story. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, we will write on our hearts that every day is the best day of the year.

Please join us at our Sunday services and monthly events. They are planned to support you on your spiritual journey.

Lovingly,
